I absolutely LOVE Valentine’s Day. Naturally, I’m always looking for a reason to have a Valentine’s Day inspired photoshoot. That’s exactly what the month of February was made for: heart shaped balloons, chocolate kisses, bundles of roses, and my Valentine’s Day mini sessions of course!

Every year I offer a day full of mini sessions for couples, family and friends to get together and capture some sweet Valentine’s Day memories (check out the mini session blog from 2021!) This year, the weather threatened to ruin our fun, but never fear! The Birmingham Botanical Gardens green house saved the day. I mean, where else can you find that much green in the middle of February? Additionally, I shot a few of them at Altadena Golf Course the next day – another venue that never fails to deliver. All in all, I’d say they turned out absolutely beautiful! Here are a few snippets from each awesome session.

The Whitenecks

Madison and I met our freshman year of college in the same journalism program! Shortly after, she met her husband Keith. I’ve even photographed some portraits of them at a few sorority functions over the years! This is the 3rd time they’ve done a Valentine’s mini session with me, so you can consider them pros.

Rebecca + Joshua

These two initially inquired about a wedding, but I was unfortunately unavailable. So…they scheduled a mini session with me instead! And boy am I glad I got the chance to meet and know these two. They are absolutely adorable together, so precious, tender and giggly. They’re getting married on July 29th and I couldn’t be happier for them!

The Visitainers

I’ve had the pleasure of working with Lacey for a few brand shoots, and we’ve become good friends. I was thankful that this mini session finally allowed me to meet her husband, Pat! These are the first professional photos of them together since their wedding six years ago! They showed up matching almost perfectly, and although it wasn’t on purpose, it worked perfectly for these photos!

Marlee + John

This is one giggly, silly, fun-loving couple! They didn’t need any permission from me to flirt and have fun with each other. It made our mini session so easy and lighthearted! Plus, in the middle of their session, we got to witness another couple’s proposal! It made for a super precious moment and reminded us all of how much we love love!

The Johnsons

I just loved connecting with this family. I am also one of three girls, so I always appreciate seeing Emily Ann, Abby Grace and Betsy interact and just be sisters together. It’s like watching my life as a child and reminds me of having fun with my own sisters! We adventured through Altadena Golf Course and the girls had a blast posing with their mum and dad.

Katie + Henry

This was the cutest mommy and me session! I had the privilege of photographing these two a few months ago, and I just love watching babies grow up! Henry was a little superstar and hit all the perfect poses for us. I can’t wait to see how big he is the next time he’s in front of my camera!

The Henrys

I shot the Henry’s wedding back in 2018 on a freezing Kentucky day. Five years later, they are traveling the country, loving married life and are still just as obsessed with kissing each other’s cheeks as they were on their wedding day! These two are a beautiful picture of true love, and it was just so wonderful to connect with them again.

The Griffins

When I photographed the Griffins for the first time, Yan-Yan was pregnant and didn’t even know it! I always love when that happens…it’s more often than you’d think! I’ve had the lovely surprise of photographing their growing family over the years, and it is such a wonderful privilege!

The Freemans

It was such a joy to see Margeaux all grown up after photographing her newborn session last year! And by all grown up, I mean entering full-on toddler mode. She had a blast waddling around the green house and stealing the show! These three live downtown and enjoy a cute, quiet life walking the streets of Birmingham. Margeaux will be running down those streets soon enough!

Cathryn + Quincy

This mini session was my first chance to meet Cathryn and her daughter, Quincy (cutest name ever). I was absolutely blown away by Quincy’s cuteness! She smiled the entire time and did the best job posing on the bench for us! This is one mother/daughter duo that I really can’t wait to see again!

The Browns

This is the Brown’s 30th Valentine’s Day together! Let that sink in…These two have been together since they were in high school! I have the privilege of going to church with them and their sweet family, but I loved that they scheduled a session with me without the kiddos! They were headed for a romantic dinner at Helen afterwards – so fun!

My Valentine’s Day mini sessions this year made my heart SO FULL. I loved photographing each and every one of these couples and families, and look forward to having them in front of my camera again soon!
