Trey and Ashley Ferguson: Senior Portraits at The University of Alabama

Would you believe that as long as I’ve been shooting senior portraits here in Birmingham, I’ve never shot them on UA’s campus? Shocking, I know. Thankfully, Tyler and Ashley Ferguson gave me the honour of capturing my first session there with their senior portraits!

Tyler is two years older than Ashley, but they both happen to be graduating at the same time! To commemorate their achievement, we met up in Tuscaloosa for a windy portrait session (and made sure to hit all the most famous spots on campus). We kicked things off at the President’s Mansion, a gorgeous Greek Revival style residence that’s actually home to the university’s president!

As we walked across the street to our next stop, Denny Chimes, I spoke with Ashley about her journey at UA. Many of her favourite memories from the past four years include her time spent working with Al’s Pals, a mentorship program that guides and assists local school-age kids with homework, reading and math skills, and other recreational activities!

Tyler will be graduating with his Masters degree in criminal justice, the same degree he received in his undergrad studies. He hopes to move to Nashville, TN and to potentially work for the FBI!

This session was a little extra fun since my studio manager, Carli Jo, got to join me! UA is her alma mater, and she was particularly excited about our next stop, Bryant Denny Stadium. And I just have to say, I think I’m finally starting to understand why people love it so much! Standing on the Walk of Champions and staring up at the massive stadium made me want to say “Roll Tide!”

Ashley was just accepted into UAB’s medical school and will be moving to Birmingham in the Fall! Before the session was over, we had to get a few photos of her with her acceptance letter.  These two were such a joy to work with, and I’m so excited for them and the incredible journeys that lie ahead!
