The bride is always in her most beautiful state when she walks toward her groom. There is unhindered joy, unashamed unity and a beauty that radiates from her because she is loved. She was adorned with pearls from her great-grandmother, lace and a glowing smile as she walked toward her “at last.”
The groom is always in his most beautiful state whenever He lovingly lays down His life for His bride. Christ is mentioned as the Lamb at the wedding feast, and He is the most glorious when He gives of His life for His treasured bride.
I have never seen a dance floor quite like the one at this wedding. Kids filtered onto the dance floor quickly after the music started playing and Christen danced with each one as if they were the only one in the room. It was an amazing sight to see the impact Christen and Eric have both had on people over the years – from YoungLife leaders and elementary school students to Spanish-speaking families (Christen is fluent!) and mentors.
As they exited the reception under a tunnel of glow sticks, they continued walking from their reception venue, Bridge Street Gallery and Loft, all the way to the Elyton Hotel. It was a beautiful night in the Magic City. I got to trail behind them and document them enjoying the cool breeze and walking together through their favourite downtown spots.
Everything about Eric + Christen’s wedding day shouted, “Look what God has done!” It was a reverent day of unity, a sweet encouragement to pursue godly community and a joyful celebration of two becoming one. Congrats, Swopes!
