Erika + Noah: The Lumpkin House

Capturing Erika and Noah’s wedding this past April was an honour and absolute delight. From thoughtful gifts to loads of happy tears to a sweet convertible portrait session, the day couldn’t have been more reflective of this incredible duo.

Erika and Noah are the kind of thoughtful, loving couple that makes you want to go above and beyond for them. They were so easy to serve, and it helped that they picked one of my favourite wedding venues, The Lumpkin House! The venue’s welcoming and helpful team, combined with the breathtaking property, makes my drive out to Guntersville, AL more than worth it every time.

Erika’s attention to detail was nothing short of impressive. The name of the game was chinoiserie, featuring an abundance of blue and white accents that adorned everything from vases to the invitation suite, and even her perfume bottle! As the girls prepared for the big day at the historic Henry House, I found a patch of soft lighting and sat down to get creative with this beautiful flat-lay.

Before putting on her dress, we had some gifts and letters to open! Erika had a sweet gift for Noah’s mum: a handkerchief with embroidery that read, “for happy tears.” It’s safe to say that Erika knew the handkerchief would be needed, because once the happy tears started that day, they didn’t stop, especially once she read her sweet letter from Noah!

Erika’s bridesmaids were so excited to see her in her wedding dress, so we quickly ushered them out of the room to prepare for their first look! This provided some sweet, intimate time for Erika and her mum to be together and just breathe before the day got too hectic.

Erika also chose to have a first look with her father, another moment from the day that I know will be cherished by her family for years to come.

Noah had one more trick up his sleeve before seeing his beautiful bride! He presented both Erika and her mum with a portrait of himself, Erika and their grandparents, some of whom have passed away. Erika’s family is incredibly close to each other, and the gift was such a thoughtful touch to the day. Cue more happy tears!

The emotions kept flowing as Erika and Noah read personal vows to each other at their first look. Their love for each other was so beautiful to witness, and getting a front row seat to these kinds of moments is one of the many reasons I love my job! Afterwards, we ventured around the stunning Lumpkin House property for some couples portraits.

Erika and Noah’s wedding party was a close-knit group, with many members married to each other! It was so heartwarming to see how their friends have formed their own little community, and they were such great supporters of Erika and Noah all day long.

While Erika and Noah took a short break before their ceremony, I ventured around The Lumpkin House to take some more detail shots and the venue team began welcoming guests.

The owners of The Lumpkin House are friends of Erika and Noah, which is how the couple found the venue and decided on getting married there. This created the strong base for crafting a vendor team they love and trust! I can’t stress enough how important it is to surround yourself with a supportive vendor team on your wedding day, and I’m so thankful that Erika and Noah asked me to be a part of it!

One of my favourite moments of the day was taking sunset portraits with the convertible they rented! The striking, cherry red Corvette was waiting for us outside after the ceremony, and it was such a fun addition to an already amazing day. Erika was giving serious Marilyn Monroe vibes and I was loving it!!!

The happy tears appeared once again during Erika and Noah’s first dance. They were so overcome with joy, they just couldn’t contain it! Aaaand neither could the clouds… The rain began later in the evening, but our amazing vendor team pivoted and handled it like pros!

Emerald Empire Band, our incredible musicians that night, gave guests an awesome party before wrapping things up a little early to avoid the storm. We lined guests up for the exit and Erika and Noah left on the cutest little golf cart!

Every aspect of Erika and Noah’s day was a photographer’s dream, and I’m so privileged that they allowed me to be a part of it! Congratulations again to Mr. and Mrs. Campbell!!!
