Reese + Matt: A Backyard Wedding In Senoia, GA

On June 8th, 2024, I had the absolute pleasure of capturing Reese and Matt’s wedding day. I’m looking back on their celebration with so much joy and adoration, and selecting which photos to share with you all was no easy feat – I love them all!

As I scroll through their gallery, there are so many unforgettable moments that stick out to me throughout this precious day, and I’m excited to share them all with you. First up, all the gorgeous details:

Reese and Matt’s invitation suite was a beautiful and timeless choice, and those styling blooms just blew me away! Their vibrancy mixed with those handpicked classic elements created the perfect blend of elegance and charm that is so true to Reese and Matt’s personalities!

Reese’s family lives on a 200-acre property in Senoia, Georgia and kindly offered up their home as the perfect venue for the day. Mr. and Mrs. Waters wend above and beyond in preparing their home and land for the event, and their hard work truly paid off. The reception tent was set in the middle of a stuffing field underneath the open sky. As I captured all the gorgeous reception details, I couldn’t wait to see what it would look like once the sun began to set!

The entire wedding party got ready at the Water’s home, filling the house with laughter and great big smiles all day long. As the last few bridesmaids finished their hair and makeup, we had Reese slip into her gown for a first look with her girls. She was a sight to behold!

Matt, being so thoughtful and loving, had crafted Reese a scrapbook filled with memories from the last five years together. If she wasn’t crying before, she was now! Truthfully, we all were…

The day was full of sentimental moments, especially for the Waters family as they watched Reese and Matt’s wedding unfold on the property of their home. Reese’s first look with her dad took place in their own backyard! What’s more sentimental than that?

All of a sudden we got word that Matt was driving by on his way to get prepped for their first look. Reese’s quick thinking saved the day as she hid behind a tablecloth! It’s moments like these I truly cannot make up…

If you thought we were done with the happy tears, you thought wrong. Reese and Matt’s first look was full of them! One of the most touching scenes from the day was watching these two read their personal vows to each other. We had carefully crafted a schedule that allowed them plenty of time to themselves for moments like these, and they truly appreciated the chance to relax and absorb the emotions of the day.

Now is a perfect time to mention my new vendor friends, Trey and Brady, the fantastic videography duo from Trey Duffey Films based in Atlanta, GA. Along with my incredible second shooter and long-time friend, Jenny Taylor, we rode around on golf carts capturing the magic of the day! Wedding days are always more fun when you make friends along the way.

One of my favourite things to capture on a wedding day is the mundane moments. The moments where groomsmen are cracking jokes before they’re needed for photos, or when the Mother of the Bride is looking on adoringly from the window at her daughter, or when Reese’s bridesmaids help her out of the golf cart as she arrives for wedding party photos! They’re not staged or planned, but they hold just as much worth as every other moment in the day, and I happen to think they should be remembered and cherished too.

As guests arrived for the ceremony, they made sure to grab a fan on the way to their seat. The sun was high in the sky and things were definitely heating up! But that didn’t keep us from feeling the anticipation in the air as family and wedding party began making their way down the aisle.

As guests made their way to the tent, the new Holloways and I took advantage of the setting sun and ventured out into the field to take some just-married portraits. We had been blessed with beautiful skies all day long, the perfect background to capture that newlywed bliss!

Despite the pounds of sweat I lost (the Georgia heat is no joke, my friends!), the evening was absolutely perfect. Guests laughed, reunited, made new friends on the dance floor and celebrated Reese and Matt all night long!

The toasts during the reception were incredibly sweet and tender, and Reese’s dad gave perhaps one of the best Father of the Bride speeches I’ve ever heard. Reese and Matt are truly loved!

Once the dance party started, it didn’t dare stop! Reese, Matt and their guests danced the night away, celebrating with boundless energy and joy.

Congratulations to the newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs. Holloway! This day was a beautiful testament to your love and the wonderful future ahead of you, and I’m honoured to have been a part of it alongside this incredible team of vendors:
