They finished building the house a week before the wedding.
When Rusty and Michelle met, Rusty had begun drawing up plans to build a house. After only a few meetings, he knew Michelle was the one, so she quickly became involved in the planning process. As their relationship budded and turned from dating to engagement, so followed house plans. The house is full of realized dreams, wide open spaces, comfortable areas to congregate and years worth of memories to come.
The house held 150 people for the ceremony – a few seated but the rest standing in the large living area. With an elaborate flower arch in close proximity to the stainless steel fridge, there was a beautiful balance between homey and classy venue. It was surely a night to remember as friends and family danced in the soon-to-be living room under chandeliers and vaulted ceilings that will make you swoon.
All across the house, little shout-outs to their new last name – Favorite – were displayed on napkins, cups, pillows and just about anything you can think of! Rusty and Michelle truly created an experience for their guests by providing flip flops for the dance floor, a New Orleans-style second line to wrap up the night and a lavish spread of jambalaya, vegetable poppers and signature drinks. It was a mashup of their backgrounds and it came together perfectly.
My FAVORITE part of the day, though, was spending it with the newlyweds. They were just as giggly as any 20-something-year-old and the way they looked at each other will make anyone shed a tear. You can tell they treasure one another and believe fully in the kindness of God in bringing them together.
Rusty and Michelle, may your marriage ever be glorifying to God, a delight to your community, a strong foundation for your children and a source of comfort for each other. Photographing your day was a pure joy! Congratulations!
