Jessi was with me the day I got my first camera.
It was my 14th birthday, and I remember sitting on a white van driving across the Rhonda Valley of South Wales, pressing buttons on my Canon Powershot. We were on a mission trip with our home church in England (Holland Road) and my parents’ current church in Atlanta (New Hope), a partnership that began in 1999 and actually still continues today! We’d been taking a yearly mission trip to Merthyr Tydfil and surrounding areas, bringing about 60 people from New Hope and 30 from Holland Road, and Jessi was a New Hoper who came on about 10 trips total. We got to be friends and ended up on the same daytime team that traveled around to local elementary schools, sharing the Gospel through stories and skits.
We spent lunchtime breaks playing with the macro setting to capture the intricacy of flowers in a large field that year, and you would’ve been horrified at my photography back then, haha!! Which is why it was an INCREDIBLE honour when Jessi asked me to photograph her 2022 wedding. Someone watching me from the literal beginning, trusting me with their day? That’s the biggest compliment in my book.
I met Jessi + Landon at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia, located in Athens, and then we ventured across the University of Georgia’s campus! It was a really fun time with the two of them, exploring all the places where they fell in love. From Jittery Joes and the arch to FIVE and Sanford Stadium, it was a peachy day! (get it, Georgia peach).
I’m thrilled to be working with the future Dukes as they get married this upcoming January. Bring it on!!!
