Thinking of locations for your family session can be daunting, am I right?! It can feel like a lot of pressure choosing a place that’s meaningful, beautiful, full of life and a reflection of your family. But no fear, here are 10 of the best Birmingham family session locations! Tried and true, these are some of my favourites to take memorable family portraits. Let’s celebrate this fun season in your family’s life!

1. Vestavia Hills Overlook

Right at the top of the hill stands Vestavia Baptist Church and a stunning view!

2. Botanical Gardens

Always a classic! Botanical Gardens has acres of land and every corner has a different perspective. I never really tire of sessions here because with the combination of lush grass, seasonal flowers, little streams and segmented gardens. It’s one of Birmingham’s most prized pieces of land!

3. Rhodes Park

It’s a less popular option so it’s not as busy, but it’s got everything… luscious grass, benches, columns, walkways… You’ll end up loving this location!

4. Railroad Park

It’s right on the outskirts of downtown, but it’s one of my favourites with a lot of variety! The backdrop of the courthouse is pristine, and there are many trees, a beautiful fountain and walkways.

5. Red Mountain Park

You see a view of the city skyline, but it’s hidden and quiet. Proposals often happen here because it’s secluded and special. It’s also a perfect place for engagement sessions!

6. Cahaba Heights or Mountain Brook

During the fall, the leaves in Cahaba Heights and Mountain Brook are spectacular! We can walk the quaint streets, exploring together.

7. Samford University

I’m a little biased, but I believe it’s the most beautiful school in the Southeast… if not the nation. Samford’s Georgian architecture is unparalleled, and the Quad provides luscious greenery, quaint hideaways and stunning backdrops.

8. Sibyl Temple

You’ve probably seen this location before… right at the top of Highway 31 in Vestavia! The entrance is a bit tucked away, but it’s the perfect spot for a family session.

9. Jemison Trail

When golden hour strikes, this place turns into a fairyland! With a stream running through, you have endless options for stunning portraits here.

10. Your Home!
