Best Honeymoon Locations: Pick Your Favorite!

Searching through the internet for all the best honeymoon locations can seem like a daunting task, especially if you’re already in the middle of wedding planning! If you’re feeling overwhelmed by it all, then this blog is for you!

I’m a wedding photographer in Birmingham, Alabama, and for the past 5 years I’ve heard over 100 different ideas for honeymoon plans. From the beautiful beaches of Cancun to the snowy cabins of the Rocky Mountains, I’ve compiled a list of my top five best places to honeymoon! Here we go!

Mainland Beaches

When you think “honeymoon,” your mind might wander towards a sunshine, exotic fruits and swim-up bars. If that sounds like you, then I’d recommend finding a beautiful beach for your big trip! Think outdoor sunset dinners, exciting excursions, and endless relaxation. Just make sure to pack your sunscreen!

Some of the best locations I’ve heard of include Cancun, Mexico, 30A in Florida, LA (if you’re looking for something a little more urban), and Greece (if you’re up for the plane ride!).

National Parks

This one is for the adventurers! I’ve always felt like you need to give a national park tour plenty of time and effort, so if you have a few extra vacation days to spare (and don’t mind spending time in the car), this road trip could be just for you.

Here’s an awesome guide to “The Ultimate Western National Parks Road Trip” that shows you a convenient way to hit 14 national parks! You could do all of these, or just a few of them. Either way, you know the trip will be absolutely beautiful!

Islands

Similar to the mainland beaches I mentioned before, there are plenty of gorgeous islands that could take the #1 spot for top honeymoon locations! If you’re looking for a shorter flight, I’d recommend checking out Jamaica, St. Lucia, or St. Vincent and the Grenadines. If you’re wanting something even more exotic, look into Santorini, Corsica or Ibiza! And, if you’re wanting to stay even closer to home, Hilton head, SC is one of the sweetest, most relaxing island getaways.

European Tour

So you want to go overseas, but the beach isn’t really your thing? How about a European tour! As a native Brit, I have to say I highly recommend this one 😁

Depending on how many countries you’d like to see, this one may require a little more time. But it sure will be worth it! The best honeymoon locations always are. To help get you started, here’s a site that provides 4 different itineraries for a 2 week tour of Europe!

Mountains

If you love the idea of snuggling up in a snowy cabin high in the mountains, this last one is for you. There are plenty of beautiful mountain lodges in places like the Rocky Mountains to the west, the Great Smoky Mountains in the east or even an overseas trip to the Alps if you’re up for it! See the sights, drink some hot chocolate and cuddle by the fireplace while you celebrate what it feels like to finally be married!!!
