Amber + Troy: The Country Club of Birmingham

February 17th was a magical winter wedding day for Amber and Troy! Despite the freezing temperatures, each moment was filled with warmth, laughter and love (and we did our best to stay inside as much as possible…).

This was my first time shooting at The Country Club of Birmingham, and the venue did not disappoint! As I arrived that afternoon to begin capturing details of the venue, Amber, Troy and their wedding party were busy getting ready for the big day.

Amber’s mum was responsible for one of my favourite details of the day: 300 handmade origami cranes! Amber’s parents met in Okinawa, so the cranes and personalized chopsticks were handed out to each guests in honor of their history there!

After Amber put on her beautiful dress and added all her final touches, we did first looks with both her bridesmaids and her dad! I’ll always love capturing sweet moments like these, they never get old!

We knew there was a cold, windy day waiting for us outside, so we utilized the Country Club’s lobby quite a bit for portraits. This meant using my flash most of the day, which was a fun challenge!

After Amber and Troy’s first look indoors, we braved the weather to snag a few portraits on the golf course. We were all shivering so hard, we couldn’t help but start laughing! The moment we wrapped up, we hopped on the golf cart and rode it as fast as it could go back to the heated bridal room!

After we finished warming up, the wedding party met us out in the lobby for some fun group photos. I think they were just thankful we didn’t make them go outside!

Soon, guests began arriving and we hurried Amber and Troy away to take a few quiet moments before the ceremony! By the time the ceremony began, the room was completely dark with little to no light to work with. My flash was working overtime, but I really love how all the photos turned out!

The reception was such a blast, and the new Mr. & Mrs. Vaughn spent the night surrounded by great friends who know them so well (and came to support in so many fun outfits!). I’m so thankful to have witnessed this beautiful day, and I can’t wait to watch these two grow on this exciting journey of marriage!
