Introducing the behind the scenes of 2019 weddings and sessions! Wow, it’s been a wild year and I’m so thankful to wrap up such a sweet season with amazing clients. My life is full of embarrassing moments, so I thought I’d share a few. If you want to know the reallll all-time-best embarrassing moment of mine, let’s get coffee and I’ll tell ya then! If you’re wanting to see the really beautiful images and not the crazy ones in this post, head over to my Best of 2019 Weddings post!
2019 didn’t hold any people fainting on stage (thankfully!) but here are some of my favourite behind the scenes. Before we begin, though, thank you to Alex Wolf, Haley Wright and Deidre Lackey for these BTS shots! I’m grateful for working with fun, kind, talented second shooters!
You know you danced hard when your pants split. Meg and Walker, you surely pulled off an amazing party!
Again, shoutout to the Coles! Your bridal party welcomed me with open arms and we all had so.much.dang.fun.

If you’ve had a session or wedding with me, you know that perfecting the dip kiss takes a little work! I direct this pose quite specifically because grooms typically dip the bride a bit too far back so their faces aren’t showing! This was a sweet moment and Caroline’s face cracks me up!
I died laughing when I saw this picture for the first time! Unfortunately there are wayyyy too many pictures of me like this, ha! Who knew my posture was so awful?!
Putting on boutonnieres is actually quite fun for me, because I get to befriend groomsmen and have about 30 seconds to interact with each of them. This builds trust (so long as I don’t poke them, haha!) and I can learn a little about them. This is my best friend’s husband and it was so sweet putting his boutonniere on before their first look!
Stop traffic! Run across the road! Do a dip kiss! Run back before getting run over! The adrenaline rush is totally worth it for beautiful portraits like the one below!
After it happened, I realized something very slippery on my foot. I looked down and my foot was covered in blood… yuck! I’ve always wanted a battle scar from wedding photography, though. Finally made it to the big leagues.
Julie, this was such a fun moment! I love dancing with my brides for a few minutes — it’s a sweet way to wrap up the night, give a hug and realize “you did it!” I really miss my couples after wedding day because we don’t have scheduled times to see each other, so I love dancing at the end of the reception!
Not many people shove cake in the other’s face these days, but it’s always hilarious when they do! Erika + Sean were super cute at the Sonnet House for this cake cutting! Second shot for Lindsey Drennen.
I love these two. From putting magnolia leaves in his pocket to eating grapes during a dance line, Katie + David kept me laughing all day. View David + Katie’s Highlands Chapel + Mathews Manor wedding here!
Instant friends. Weird faces (what’s new). Best celebration for the Allains!
I can always count on my amazing second shooters to take care of me! Thank you to Alex Wolf, Deidre Lackey and Haley Wright!
Pro tip: don’t let your drunk friends hold the sparklers… it never ends well 😉
Is there anything better, though? It’s my favourite wedding song, if ya didn’t know! I also love photographing weddings where some of my greatest friends are guests! I photographed my first ever wedding with Liz, so it was very surreal to be on the dance floor together after photographing 55+ weddings!
It was almost as if I just rolled out of bed… except I was photographing a wedding and in full hair and makeup 😉 Caroline’s wedding day makes me teary, and it was such an honour to serve her as photographer and bridesmaid.
Sorry, Cam + Tucker! You guys are the bomb! This shot always cracks everybody up… me crawling inside the veil with the two of them while they get very close to kiss and cuddle and laugh. Man, I’m so thankful my clients trust me and choose to make everything fun!
Truly peeps, it was SO HOT. Like, stiflingly hot! Yet, Jimmy + Rachael were incredibly gracious, fun and chose to laugh at all the sweat!
Seth + Jessalin braved the cow poop and goat-biting attempts for their maternity session!
Who knew that cacti grew on the ground?! Not me!!! Click here to view this beautiful styled shoot.
….and it wasn’t weird. Taylor was one of my most adventurous brides and I loved every minute!!
Yep, this is not a game of two truths and a lie. All those things happened! WHAT A YEAR, you guys. I love reflecting on the amazing wedding days I had the honour of photographing. I love maintaining relationships with my couples and making new friends. This is an incredible job! Thank you again to everyone who entrusted me to spend the best day ever with you!
