Birmingham Coffee Shops: Your Guide to Caffeine in the Magic City

One of the perks of being a full-time photographer is that I have the freedom to work in almost any location. Some of my favorites include the couch, my new home office and any/all coffee shops here in Birmingham, AL. If you’re in need of a new “work from home” location or you’re just addicted to caffeine, then you need to know about the following coffee shops in the Magic City.

Cala

The vibes are immaculate at Cala Coffee. Bright colours, groovy fonts, thriving house plants and incredible coffee … what more do you need? If you’re in need of a snack, they partner with Ladybird Tacos and almost always have fresh tacos in stock! And to all my Bham brides, Cala also offers coffee cart rentals for events! It would be the cutest addition to any reception.

Prevail

Located downtown on 20th St. N., Prevail offers quality coffee and strives to create community in every cup poured. If you love their coffee but can’t make it downtown, they offer a monthly subscription! The barista behind the counter insisted upon the “Alabama Stinger,” an iced, shaken honey cappuccino. Give it a shot the next time you’re around!

June

June is one of the newer additions to the Birmingham coffee scene, but they are already making waves. They have the cutest little shop located downtown on 25th St. N. The next time you’re there, try the pistachio rose latte featuring some of their house-made syrups!

Church Street Coffee & Books

Located in Crestline Village, Church Street Coffee & Books is the quaintest little coffee shop in Mountain Brook. Stop by to grab a coffee, and have one of their awesome baristas recommend a new book! You never know what new story you’ll find on their shelves. Additionally, I’ve heard their famous Church Street Breakup Cookie is to die for!
